When Digital Isn't Democratic
We aren’t all online. There’s a wide disparity in digital literacy in this country, with over 11 million people in the UK lacking essential, basic digital skills.
The facts:
In response to the upcoming General Election, the Digital Poverty Alliance is calling for a cross-departmental digital inclusion task force, across every department, because 'digital touches every area of life'.
Read about their ambitions, and find out how you can involved.

Cultural Fit, Or Ageism in Disguise?
US-based Recruiter Brian Fink, whose previous employers include Apple, Amazon & Twitter, shares his overview of how older workers are being discounted in favor of younger, and seemingly more "culturally aligned" candidates.
Let this article act as a reminder to both Recruiters and hiring managers that a homogeneous culture comes at a cost, which goes beyond the legal and ethical implications. It concludes with a few solutions that will challenge discriminatory approaches to hiring (whether intentional or not).

Settle
The first organisation in the spotlight is Settle, the charity striving to reduce the number of care experienced young people who face homelessness.
Settle’s evidenced impact put my jaw to the absolute floor last week. The tiny but mighty charity delivers qualified coaching, and preventative, holistic programmes that support both emotional well-being, as well as how to practically manage a tenancy.
Despite the shocking research showing that 1/3 become homeless after just 2 years, 97% of Settle graduates sustain their tenancies. Read more about their impact.
Published after winning the Children and Young People Now Care-Leavers category award in 2023, check out this article. 🏆

Penny is also actively recruiting for a Trusts & Foundations Fundraising Manager.
